How the day actually works

 1. Register your school

Registering takes two minutes and costs nothing. There’s no commitment — it simply puts your school on our radar and gives you access to the materials you’ll need to gauge interest from parents.

2. Spread the word to parents

We provide ready-to-use letters, emails, and social media copy. You share it through whatever channels you already use — newsletter, class WhatsApp, assembly mention. No new admin systems, no extra workload.

3. Families pre-order

Parents who want an album pre-order online, in full, upfront. If 100 albums are ordered within 8 weeks, we lock in your recording date. If the window falls short, you can extend it once — with no refund yet — and only refund everyone in full if it’s still short a second time. Nothing is booked until enough families are on board. Nothing to lose!

4. Choosing your songs, and time to practise

Once your date’s booked, each class picks their song — choose from our curated shortlist of backing tracks, or select your own. Either way, we provide the backing track and lyric sheets ready to go.

There’s no need for dedicated rehearsal time. Even five minutes at the end of a lesson, every now and again in the weeks running up to the big day, is enough to have a class ready. Keep it simple with everyone singing along together, or if a class has real enthusiasm for music, build it out further — choir sections, solos for individual students, whatever suits.

5. The artwork competition

Every songbook features real student artwork on the cover, chosen through a whole-school competition. We provide the templates, so it’s easy for every class to take part.

It’s a genuine highlight for the school in the run-up to recording — it gets parents talking and excited, and gives students something to look forward to even before the big day arrives. Best of all, every child can enter, whether or not their family goes on to buy an album.

6. The recording day itself

Our engineer arrives on-site by 8:30am and is set up and ready to record by 9am. The team is fully DBS-checked. We typically use the school hall, though a large classroom works too.

A mobile studio is set up on the day. Backing tracks are played back, and each class is captured singing live using three condenser microphones in a classic choir setup.

Once recording is finished, the engineer takes it into the studio. Levels are balanced carefully, and — deliberately — the children’s vocals are brought slightly louder than a typical commercial mix, because parents want to clearly hear the children singing, not a polished-under blend. 

7. Delivery — the album and songbook

Every family who pre-ordered receives a printed songbook featuring the tracklist and real student artwork, chosen through a whole-school competition open to every child — regardless of whether their family bought an album. Inside is a unique code that unlocks a one-time download plus unlimited streaming of the finished album. Every student also receives a Certificate of Achievement, whether or not their family purchased a copy.

All songbooks are delivered directly to the school, not to individual homes. We provide a list of who has ordered, so parents can arrange collection through you. Schools are also welcome to order extra copies for staff, governors, or anyone else who would like one.
